Fireman-Simon C. of Palm Beach,FL, Quincy and Hyannisport, on September 10, 2011. Beloved husband of Norma (Yost). Devoted father of Barry Fireman and his wife Lisa, Andrew Fireman and his wife Jami and the late Joan Fireman Berenson and her surviving spouse Steven and wife Ginger. Dear grandfather of Scott and Alison Berenson, Samantha and Rick Vigil, Carla Fireman, Eric and Clair Windsor Fireman and Mia Fireman and great grandfather of Camren Vigil, Laurel Fireman and Jonah Berenson. Loving brother of Libby Brodney and the late Sam Fireman, Dorothy Rosen and Harry Fireman. Services at Congregation Mishkan Tefila, 300 Hammond Pond Parkway, Chestnut Hill on Tuesday, September 13 at 10:00 am. Immediately following the burial at Mishkan Tefila Memorial Park, West Roxbury, a memorial observance will be held at the home of Barry and Lisa Fireman on Tuesday until 9 pm and Wednesday and Thursday 1-4:30, 7-9 pm. Isidore Pine

September 8, 2011

Isidore Pine, age 92, of Taunton, formerly of Raynham, died on September 5, 2011. He was born in Brooklyn, NY and was a 40 year resident of Raynham before moving to Taunton 15 years ago. He was an active member of Raynham Lions Club, V.F.W and Blinded Veterans. He was the husband of the late Elsie Jacobson. He leaves his daughter, Ellen Hurteau; his grandchildren, Erica Hurteau and her husband David Porter; great grandchildren, Joplin and Tress; Brother, Herman Pine. He was the brother of the late George Pine. Graveside services will be held at the Mt. Nebo Cemetery, Glebe St. Taunton on Thursday, September 8 at 11 am. Following the service, the family will return to the Raynham Lions Club, 2234 King Phillip St. Raynham.  A memorial observance will be held at his residence from 3- 8 pm on Thursday, Friday 1-5 pm and Sunday 1-6 pm. Cohen- Herbert of  Martha’s Vineyard, Palm Beach Gardens ,Florida ,  formerly  of  Wellesley..Died peacefully  at  home  at age  88 on September 8, 2011. Beloved husband of Sheila ( Miller) Cohen for  52  years .  Devoted  father  of  James  Cohen and his wife Amy Silberstein   of  Newton , Betsy Kessler  and her husband  Andrew of Wellesley. Dear grandfather of  Douglas, Julia and Caroline Cohen, Emily and  Jackson Kessler. Dear brother of   Dr. Sumner Cohen  of New York . Former   World  War II  Air  Force Pilot  and retired Vice President of Jordan Marsh Co.    Services at Temple Beth  Elohim,  10 Bethel Rd., Wellesley, on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011 at 1:30 pm. Following interment at Sharon Memorial  Park,  memorial  observance  will be held at the home of Betsy and Andrew Kessler until 9:00 pm  Sunday, and Monday  2-4 & 7-9 pm. Newfield-Martin of Raynham, on September 5, 2011. Beloved husband of Jean (Fahey) Newfield. Devoted father of Gary R. Newfield and his wife Heather, Sandra A. Newfield, Heidi R. Swanick and her husband Patrick, Marsha N. Nehiley and her husband John. Step father of Kara Fahey-Riel and her husband George, Kyle Fahey, Kevin Fahey and his wife Orieta, Keith Fahey and his wife Michelle. Also survived by 13 grandchildren. Loving brother of Paul Newfield and his wife Sarah. Uncle of Terri Newfield. Services in St. Ann’s Parish Center, 660 N. Main St. Raynham, on Wednesday, September 7, at 9 a.m. Following the burial at St Joseph Cemetery, Taunton, a memorial observance will be held at St. Ann’s Parish Center until 1 p.m.. Memorial observances will also be held at his late residence on Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm and Thursday, 6-8 pm. Former owner of Newfield Insurance Agency in Raynham for many years. He also founded Raynham Oil Change in Raynham. Marty was a member of the Eastern Massachusetts Association of Interscholastic Football Officials since 1972, Member and Past President of the Taunton Jaycees, Member of the Planning Board of Raynham, School building and Site committee in Raynham, and the Taunton Zoning Board of Appeals. He volunteered for SRPEDD and SCORE. In 2003 he received the Citizen of the Year Award from the Town of Raynham. He believed that service to humanity is the best work of life. For 55 years the beloved wife of the late Howard Z. Mann. Mother of Jeffrey Mann and his wife Deborah of Osterville, Edward Mann and his wife Jeryll of Framingham, and Susan Bain and her husband Robert of Hingham. Grandmother of Beth and Arnon Klein, Andrew and Hillary Mann, and Marjorie and Erissa. Great grandmother of Zachary and Jake Klein. Sister of Pauline Feinstein and her husband Elliott of Westport. Graveside services at the Tifereth Israel Cemetery, Old Plainville Rd., New Bedford on Sunday, Sept. 4 at 11 a.m. Following the service a memorial observance will be held at Tifereth Israel Congregation, 145 Brownell Ave., New Bedford. KAROFSKY, Alfred 93, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Formerly of Newton, and Wayland, on September 3, 2011. He leaves his beloved wife of 71 years, Lorraine (Goldberg) Karofsky, three sons and daughters-in law, Lee and Linda Karofsky of West Palm Beach, FL; Harvey and Gale Karofsky of Palm Beach, FL; and Marc and Susan Karofsky of Wayland, MA. In addition, he leaves his grandchildren; Robin and Stephen Malasky, Eric and Kimberly Karofsky, Judd and Samantha Karofsky, Keri Glassman, Tracy and Matthew Shepard, and Lindsay and Dan Guttell, as well as his 10 great grandchildren; Hannah and Max Malasky, Matthew, Spencer, and Brooks Karofsky, Dylan, Ellie, and Alexandra Karofsky, Rex and Maizy Glassman. He was the brother of the late Mark and Sydney Karofsky. Al lettered in four sports at Brookline High School, and was an avid golfer, winning 6 consecutive club championships at New Seabury CC on Cape Cod. He was a member of Hickory Shafts, New England Senior Golf Association, and Past President of The Apparel Industry of New England. He was President and Founder, with his brother Mark, of Summit Sportwear Company, a manufacturer of ladies apparel. A graveside service will be held at Sharon Memorial Park, Sharon, on Wednesday September 7, 11:45 AM. Immediately following the burial, memorial observance will be at the Clubhouse at the Hills at Mainstone, 133 Hillside Drive, Wayland until 5:00 PM, and 7:00-9:00 PM. Thursday, 1:00-4:00PM.
