BACKER-Labon at the age of 100 ,of Weston formerly of El Paso, TX , on September 6, 2009 .A retired electrical engineer , Mr. Backer helped bring electricity and irrigation to rural New Mexico after World War 11 , and helped raise his family in West Texas. Mr. Backer was born in Baltimore, MD and grew up in Richmond, VA. He attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute, and achieved the rank of Lt. Colonel in the U.S. Army Signal Corps. H was the husband of the late Clara Morrison Backer of Atlanta, GA., He is survived by his daughter Ellen Edwards and Stuart Edwards of Oak Park, Ill. ,and David Backer and his wife Alyce Kaprow of Newton , his grandchildren, Rebecca Edwards, Joseph Backer and Jacob Backer.He was the brother of Moe Backer and the late Jean Caplan Services are private

Belle Shriro-September 5, 2009 Belle Shriro, 92, wife of the late Irving Shriro and beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and the friend of many, died Saturday, September 5, in Swampscott, Massachusetts, after a brief illness. A native of Syracuse, stroke in 2003. Belle’s working career included 15 years as a secretary at the Syracuse Board of Education, but her . Survived by her son, Samuel (Lynn) Shriro and their children, Danielle and Joseph Cohen, and Matthew and Andrew Shriro; son, Michael (Aldegloria Eziquiel) Shriro and their children, Jonathan, Rebecca and Natasha Eziquiel Shriro; Leah (Ben Hughes) Shriro and their daughter, Isabel Hughes; and son-in-law Daniel Tullin and his son, Jonathan. She was predeceased by her daughter, Jeanne; two sisters; and a brother. She also leaves cousins and their children, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Burial will be in Beth El Cemetery,Syracuse , NY Shiva will be observed at the home of Mark Shriro Sunday evening.
