Dr. Constance D. Wood died of cancer on Tuesday June 1, 2010. Constance D. Wood was born in Boston, Massachusetts, the first and only daughter of Dr. Henry Rosen and Ms. Annie Lena Miller Rosen. She graduated from Brookline High School with Honors and after graduating from Boston University, College of Liberal Arts, she was awarded an Assistantship to the Chairman of the psychology department for her graduate studies. After a year of graduate school, Dr. Wood was offered the position of clinical psychologist in the neurology department of Massachusetts General Hospital. There was an 11 year intermezzo from work until her youngest child was in kindergarten and she had completed the Masters Degree program at the University of Hartford. One of her professors, also Chairman of the psychology department at the Institute of Living, offered her the position of Research Psychologist. Following that she was the first school psychologist at the Connecticut Institute for the Blind. On moving to New York she was appointed as school psychologist for the public schools in Mount Vernon, New York. At the end of the school day she also worked as a clinical psychologist at the New Rochelle Center for Psychological Services and Education. She received her doctoral degree from Fordham University at Lincoln Center in New York. Following that Dr. Wood continued post-graduate studies in psychoanalytic psychotherapy at The Institute for the Study of Psychotherapy. Dr. Wood arrived in Houston, Texas on New Year’s eve 1977. She had been chosen to be the director of a school for emotionally disturbed children. In 1979 she went in to full-time private practice. She has treated children from ages 2 and up, adolescents, adults, couples and families with a range of emotional disorders of childhood adolescence and adulthood. Dr. Wood has been published in psychological, psychoanalytic, and journals for the blind. Dr. Wood was on the medical staff at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital, and Texas Children’s Hospital for over 25 years. She has been on the board of directors of Mental Health America of Greater Houston and on the board of directors of Main Street Theater. She was a serious devotee of the arts, opera, ballet, theatre, gallery and museum attendance. She enjoyed travelling around the world, visiting Europe many times, the Middle East, Far East Central and South America. Dr. Wood is survived by her children, Shelley Alyne Lasker of Hartford Connecticut, Marsha Karen Nell of Woodstock, New York, and Jeffrey Myles Lasker of Marlboro, Massachusetts. Dr. Wood is also survived by three brothers, Dr. J. Myron Rosen and Mr. Howard Irwin Rosen, both of Boston, Massachusetts, and Mr. Warren Kenneth Rosen of Boynton Beach, Florida. Dr. Wood felt that “Life is a precious gift that should be enjoyed to the utmost by all.” Graveside services were held at Lindwood Memorial Park, Randolph on June 3, 2010 . Shelley loved writing plays and had one performed while attending Brandeis. Her passions were also photography, hiking, traveling and being near the water. Shelley’s happiest times were when she was with her family and friends. She will be sadly missed. Barnett “Bill” Ullian of Tamarac, Florida, formerly of Newton, died peacefully after a long illness on April 10, Yom HaShoah –Holocaust Remembrance Day, at the age of 78. Bill was the devoted son of the late Theresa and Maurice Ullian. He worked alongside his father at Ullian Buick in Chelsea and later opened a second automobile dealership in Framingham. Loving father of Marjorie Sokoll and her husband Mark of Newton, Howard Ullian of Bangkok, and Nancy Salvin and her husband Ken of Framingham. Cherished grandfather of Talya and David Sokoll, and Jessica, Rebecca and Joey Salvin. He is also survived by his beloved companion of more than 18 years, Geraldine Kram of Tamarac, Florida. Devoted father of Barbara and Robert, grandfather of Benjamin, Elizabeth and Alexander, dear brother of Ruth Karp. Professor Keyfitz, born in Montreal, rose to the rank of Assistant Dominion Statistician in the Canadian civil service before beginning a distinguished academic career in 1961 which took him to the Universities of Toronto, Montreal, Chicago, Berkeley, Ohio State and Harvard where he was Andelot Professor of Sociology and Demography and Chairman of the Departments of Sociology and Public Health. His pioneering work produced hundreds of books and articles in leading journals and developed the field of mathematical demography. Winner of numerous honorary awards and member of professional associations including the National Academy of Sciences, Royal Statistical Society, American Statistical Association, and American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Devoted father of Laurie Fitzgerald and her husband Christopher of Framingham, Sharon Berkowitz and her husband Damian Krysan of Rochester, NY, Leonard Berkowitz of Framingham and Debra Dempsey and her husband Matthew of Shrewsbury. Dear grandfather of Jennifer, Kimberly, and Kevin Fitzgerald; Sarah and Mark Krysan and James and Sylvia Dempsey. Loving brother of Michael Berkowitz and his wife Natalie and Charlotte Dana. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. and came to the greater Boston area as a child. Bob graduated from Northeastern University in 1959 with a detgree in Mechanical Engineering and was married to Susan that same year. He spent his professional career in the high tech industry and was one of the founding partners of Prime Computer. He wrote a column on high technology for the Middlesex News. After the sale of Prime Computers he was an active member of the Board of Directors for a number of firms including Iomega. He retired from the Board at Iomega in 2008. He was also a member of the Board of Directors for The Aftercare Ministries (Bridge House) of Framingham and cooked monthly and holiday meals. One of his greatest joys was helping people achieve their potential and in that way he was a trusted friend, mentor and counselor to many people including friends, family and collegues. In addition Bob was a strong supporter of the Jewish Day School and a devoted and active member of Temple Beth Sholom. Bob enjoyed traveling with his wife, cooking, woodworking, writing and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He lived in Israel in 1979-1980 and participated in the construction of the Ovda Air Force Base in the Negev. After his retirement, he spent many years as a volunteer at The Boston Museum of Science.
