Irving H. Stoller

July 2, 2014

of Walpole, formerly of Randolph, on July 2, 2014, at the age of 85. Beloved husband of the late Toba C. (Goldstein) Stoller. Devoted father of Kenneth and Carolyn Stoller, Joel and Sharon Stoller, and Susan and Stephen Lougee. Papa to Jason, Melissa, Samantha, and Eric Stoller and Jennifer and Matthew Lougee. Brother of the late Henry and Julius Stoller. Loving uncle to many. Services at Temple Beth Am, 871 North Main Street, Randolph, Monday, July 7 at 11:00 am. Following interment at Sharon Memorial Park, memorial observance will be at the home of Joel and Sharon Stoller until 9pm and continue Tuesday through Thursday 2-5, 7-9 pm. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association, 72 East Concord Street, Room C3, Boston, MA 02118, the  Alzheimer’s Association of MA, 480 Pleasant St. Watertown, MA 02472, or Temple Beth Am, Randolph.

Nickolaus “Klaus” Pichler

July 1, 2014

Nikolaus R. “Klaus” Pichler, of Framingham, passed away on June 30, 2014 at the U-Mass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester.  He was 79 years old.

Born in Klagenfurt, Austria, he was the son of the late Richard and Elisabeth (Madile) Pichler. Klaus was raised and educated in Austria.  He began his career in electrical engineering after attending college and was recruited by the Digital Equipment Corporation to come to America in 1971 to integrate the keyboard and cathode ray tube (CRT) systems.  Klaus was an avid golfer and member of the Holden Country Club.

He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend, Susan (Feldman) Copeland; his sister, Lorli Daum; and his 2 brothers, Christoph and Peter Pichler.

Services will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Edgell Grove Cemetery, 53 Grove St., Framingham.  Memorial observance will be held at his late residence through Thursday afternoon.  Donations in Klaus’ memory may be made to the U-Mass Memorial Foundation, 333 South St., Suite 13E-495, Shrewsbury, MA 01545.

Norma Adler

July 1, 2014

Norma Adler, 84, of Framingham, formerly of Manhattan, died peacefully on June 30, 2014, at home. Born in Philadelphia on November 30, 1929, the daughter of the late William Greenberg and Ida (Charney) Greenberg, Norma graduated from Philadelphia High School for Girls and Drexel Institute of Technology. She pursued a career in advertising, and later developed an advertising and marketing industry executive search business in Manhattan. Following her love of art, she enrolled in the Art Students League of NY at the age of 60, and found her passion in abstract art and a community. She lived life fully, enjoying theater, travel, social action and a circle of close friends. She leaves behind her dear cousins, Karen Margolis and Victor Nussbaum of Framingham, and their children (her grandchildren) Leah, Daniel and Jared, and her dear friend Ina Torton. She is survived by her sister Annette Bodzin, and nieces and nephew, Kate Scheinman, Robert Sheinman and Wendy Kadens. She was predeceased by her son, John Adler. Graveside services will be held July 3, 2014, Roosevelt Memorial Park, Trevose, PA. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be sent to The Art Students League of New York to help fund the Norma Adler Scholarship.

Isaac F. “Ike” Beck

of Weston, on July 1, 2014. Beloved husband, father, and grandfather. A self-made businessman and entrepreneur, he was a friend and benefactor of the Boston artist community. Mr. Beck was a simple person who enjoyed cooking, gardening, animals, nature, and spending time fishing in Maine.  Services at Beit Olam – East Cemetery, 42 Concord Rd., Wayland, on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 2:00 pm.  Memorial observance will be private. Barbara Signer

June 27, 2014

Barbara Signer, born Barbara Lucy, passed away last week in her Cambridge home at the age of 76. Born in New Jersey in 1938 to Frank and Esther Lucy, Barbara was raised in Los Alamos, New Mexico. She attended Radcliffe College before living in England and Paris, eventually settling in Cambridge, Massachusetts. After more than thirty years as a Periodical Librarian’s Assistant at Harvard’s Widener Library, Barbara retired in 2009.

 

Barbara was politically active for much of her life, working determinedly in support of political, environmental, and social causes, through donations, rallies, petitions, and letter writing. She worked for Barney Frank and, as part of the Nuclear Education Project group, published a book on parenting in the nuclear age. The friendships from which this group grew deepened over the years and continued to sustain her throughout her life.

 

Other interests included gardening, family, dance and theater, a voracious love of books, and spirituality. She converted to Judaism in her twenties, and found it a life long source of solace and support.

 

Barbara is survived by her two daughters, Kira and Rachel (Rae), her younger brother Richard Lucy (Dick), and a loving circle of family and friends across the globe. A memorial service will be held at the Wilson Chapel, 234 Herrick Road, in Newton Centre on Wednesday, July second at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Nature Conservancy or the ACLU.

Dr. Milton L. Glickstein

Glickstein, Dr. Milton L., of Chestnut Hill, on June 24, 2014. Beloved husband of the late Lilian (Polov) Glickstein. Devoted father of Betty-Ann Estner of Natick. Loving brother of the late Anne Kaden, Celia Glickstein and Sue Hacker. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank his special caregiver, Valorie. Services at Congregation Mishkan Tefila, 300 Hammond Pond Parkway, Chestnut Hill, on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at 12 Noon. Following interment at Mishkan Tefila Memorial Park, West Roxbury, family and friends are invited to the Social Hall at his residence until 5 pm and 7-9 pm. Memorial observance will continue at his residence on Friday 1-5 pm, Sunday 12-5 pm. Remembrances may be made to the Food Bank at Congregation Mishkan Tefila, or to a charity of your choice.
