Lawrence “Larry” Vodkin

November 2, 2012

Lawrence (Larry) Vodkin of Bridgewater passed away at his home on November 2,2012. He is the son of the late Hyman and Eva Vodkin. He is survived by his loving sister, Linda Vodkin and his devoted brother, Michael, and Michael’s wife, Lila, from Champaign, IL.

Larry was born in Boston on May 31, 1947 and spent his formative years in Dorchester. He graduated from the Solomon Lewenberg Middle School and Boston English High School. He was a long-term mail carrier for the US Post Office and served 3 elected terms there as the Shop Steward to represent his fellow workers.

Services at Ahavath Torah Congregation, 1179 Central St, Stoughton,Sunday November 4, 2012 at 10:30 am. A private interment will follow in Everett. Memorial observance will be at Linda’s home on Monday from 12-8 PM.

A special thanks for those many friends, neighbors and cousins who visited, phoned and loaned a hand when needed. Remembrances may be made to The Humane Society or to the charity of your choice.

Isadore W. Golub WORCESTER – Isadore W. Golub, 99, died at Beaumont Nursing Home at Natick on Monday, October 29th. His wife, Sylvia (Steigman) Golub died in 2002. He leaves three daughters: Sheila wife of Les Bebchick of Framingham, with whom he lived for ten years; Paula Tigar of Lynnfield and Bella Golub of Deal, NJ; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers: Charles and William and by his sisters: Betty and Sarah. He was born in Worcester, a son of Aaron and Ida (Brodofsky) Golub and had lived in Worcester for 73 years before moving to Framingham for 10 years and to Natick a year ago. With his brother Charles, he owned and operated the Green Street Market for 73 years before retiring 11 years ago. He was an Air force Veteran of World War II. He was a long time member of Temple Emanuel and the Jewish War Veterans in Worcester and the Framingham Natick Jewish War Veterans. GRAVESIDE FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 11 AM on THURSDAY, NOV. 1ST in WORCESTER HEBREW CEMETERY on CEMETERY RD. in AUBURN UNDER THE DIRECTION of RICHARD PERLMAN of BREZNIAK RODMAN FUNERAL HOME of NEWTON. Memorial Observance will be held 2PM to 8PM on Monday, Nov. 5th at the residence of Les and Sheila Bebchick at 4 Vigue Circle in Framingham. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice .

Loving brother of the late George and his wife Carol Stone and the late Richard and his wife Beverly Coan. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Following the interment at the Pride of Brockton Cemetery, Stoughton, a memorial observance will be at his residence in Humarock, on Sunday until 9pm, Monday and Tuesday 1-5, 7-9 pm. Marilyn S. Minevitz

Marilyn Minevitz, 85, passed away on October 22, 2012. Loving wife of the late Albert Minevitz, devoted mother of Bruce Minevitz of Hingham and Nancy Minevitz of Brookline. Dear grandmother of Ned and Jake Minevitz. Loving sister of the late Carol Harrison and aunt to Bonnie Wheelwright of Andover and Scott Harrison of Quincy. Niece of beloved aunt, Bella Goldstein, of Boston. Dear companion of Leonard Colten of Hull. She found great comfort in the support of her devoted friends Terri Cook, Adrienne Anastos, Lois Panetsos and Ginnie Capo as well as the caring staff of the Harbor House in Hingham where she spent her final years. Marilyn was a graduate of the Beth Israel Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1949 where she won the Ernestine Spitz Prager Prize. She valiantly inoculated hundreds of school children against polio during the 1950’s epidemic. She later served as a school nurse in her hometown of Hull.
She was an inspiration to her friends – always positive, radiant, and a trusted confidant who could keep a secret and avoid drama. An avid reader, world traveler, and aficionado of a good Broadway musical preceded by a delightful dinner. Interment on Thursday October 25 – 3:00 PM at Hull Village Cemetery will be private. Friends are cordially invited to attend a Celebration of Life gathering on Thursday October 25, 2012 at Tosca, 14 North Street, Hingham from 4:30 to 7:00 PM. GREENBLATT, Herbert L. “Lenny” of
Stoneham (formerly of Cambridge and Chelsea), October 21,
2012 at age 90. Beloved husband of the late Pearl (Ackerman)
Greenblatt. He is survived by his children:
Debra & Richard Mabel and Daniel & Ginger Greenblatt all of
Burlington, and Phyl & Neil Rubinstein of North Yarmouth, Maine. He is
also survived by his grandchildren:
Scott Mabel and partner Caitlin Whelan, Eva and Michael Smith, Susan
and David Harrington, Donna Greenblatt, Ari Rubinstein and partner
Rachel Bernheim, and Gabriel Rubinstein. He also leaves 4 great
grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside
services will be held at Hand in Hand Cemetery, 2690 Centre St. West
Roxbury, 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 23. Shiva will be observed at the
home of Daniel and Ginger Greenblatt through Thursday evening.
Donations in his memory may be sent to either The Salvation Army or
Hospice of the North Shore and Greater Boston.
