Marvin Milton-of Newton, on November 26, 2015,passed away peacefully on November 26, 2015 at the age of 84. Service was private. Husband of 57 years to Roberta (nee Blinder), father to Gayle (Michael Zeller) and Marcea (Peter Rosenblatt), grandfather to Jake Milton Zeller, Benjamin Milton Rosenblatt and Isabelle Sydney Rosenblatt. A Phi Beta Kappa honors graduate of Stanford University and Harvard Law School, Marvin was a true Renaissance man. He lived life fully enjoying literature, music, travel, fine food, and most of all, his beloved Boston Red Sox. His positive attitude,adventurous spirit, and commitment to academic excellence have been, and will continue to be, a constant inspiration

Evan Stuart Schumacher

Evan

Evan Stuart Schumacher of Newton, Massachusetts, died on November 29, 2015 at the age of 46 after a 19-month battle with cancer. Evan was the devoted husband of Suzanne (Grandberg) Schumacher and father of Jacob, Sophia and Sari. He is survived by so many devoted family members and friends, including his parents,  Florence and Gerald Schumacher of Wellesley, his brothers, David of Newton, and Paul of Culver City, CA and his sister, Winter and her husband John, of Laguna Beach, CA, and many nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Evan graduated from Needham High School, Northeastern University, and the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. A serial entrepreneur, over 15 years Evan founded and served as CEO of four companies: Celarix, Going.com, Everypoint, and Open Mile. His most recent venture, Open Mile, was acquired by Echo Global Logistics in Chicago, where Evan served as Chief Commercial Officer since October 2013. Evan loved life and was a joy to be around. He was kind and generous and had an infectious laugh. Evan was a wonderful son, brother, husband and father. He will live in our hearts forever. The funeral will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 at Temple Shalom, 175 Temple Street, Newton. Visitors are welcome to attend shiva on Wednesday night from 5:00-8:00, also at Temple Shalom in Newton. Isabel Barnert (Levenson)

Of Lexington and Falmouth. Died peacefully in her Lexington home on November 28, 2015. Beloved wife of Nyles Barnert for 48 years. Daughter of the late William and Celia Levenson. Cherished mother of Lauren Weiss and her husband Mark of Lexington and Margot DeMuro and her husband Jeff of Fairfax, VA. Proud Nana of Matthew, Cayla and Abigail. Devoted sister of Bernice Bindman and Miriam Coffman, sister-in-law of Natalie and Steven Frier, and aunt to many nieces and nephews. Isabel graduated from Belmont High School, Tufts University (Jackson) and Lesley University. She began her career as a teacher, eventually focusing on special education. She taught in several local school systems, including Lexington. After retiring from teaching, she started a second career as a realtor, working for different agencies in Lexington until her retirement 15 years ago. She was active in Temple Isaiah, involved with many committees over the years as well as one of the first chavurot. She cherished the many friendships she developed throughout her life. She particularly enjoyed her afternoons of Mah Jongg and her summers on the Cape at Falmouthport. Services at Temple Isaiah, 55 Lincoln St., Lexington, on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at 10:30 am. Interment at Westview Cemetery, Lexington. Condolence calls may be made at her residence following the interment until 9:00 pm, Thursday 1-4 & 7-9 pm, and Friday 1-4 pm. Donations in her memory may be made to Temple Isaiah or Dana Farber.

 

Sheldon Oscar Burman, M.D.

age 88, of Boston, died on Friday, November 27, 2015, surrounded by his loving family of three children, nine grandchildren, and his wife of 54 years, Diane Berger Burman.

Sheldon was the son of the late Dr. Aaron Burman, Syracuse family physician, and Gussie Burman; brother of the late Genevieve Burman Share and brother-in-law of the late Nathan Share. Dr. Sheldon Burman was a graduate of Syracuse University and the University of Syracuse Medical School. As a cardiothoracic surgeon, he spent the early part of his career developing techniques for replacing the aortic valve of a human with a valve harvested from an animal. His pioneering research led to a successful aortic valve replacement with a calf valve in 1967, the first such surgery in the United States. Most of his academic surgical career was spent in Chicago, where he taught and performed surgery at the University of Illinois Medical School and the Chicago Medical School. He raised his family in Highland Park, IL. After 42 years in Chicago, Dr. Burman and his wife decided to retire in Boston to be closer to their children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Diane Berger Burman; three children, Allison Burman Gordon and her husband Edward Charles Gordon; Jocelyn Burman Belluck; and Harrison Emory Guy Burman, M.D. and his wife Lori Galvin Burman; and nine grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at Temple Beth Elohim in Wellesley, MA. Burial was conducted on Monday, November 30, at the Temple Adath Yeshurun cemetery in Syracuse, NY. Contributions may be made to the New England Anti Defamation League,
