


Ralph L. Kolodny, professor emeritus of Boston University School of Social Work, died at Norwood Hospital on October 18, 2011. Born and raised in Fall River, MA. He graduated from Durfee High School, Brown University, Columbia University (MA in Sociology) and Boston University (MSS in Social Work). He was a veteran of World War 2, serving in the Pacific. He was a member of the Z.O. A. and Temple Beth El in Quincy, and an author of over 50 articles in Social Work Journals, many of which have been translated and appeared in foreign journals. He worked as a Director of Department of Neighborhood clubs of Boston Childrens’ Services Association for many years, and taught social work at Boston College and Boston University. He established the School of Social Work at Ben Gurion University in Israel. He attended Hebrew College in Brookline for many years, becoming fluent in Hebrew, and was an ardent student of the language.
He leaves his wife, Vivian (Orodenker) Kolodny; his children, Dr. Jonathan Kolodny of Dedham and Miriam Kolodny Ben Nun of Tel Aviv, Israel; his grandchildren, Aaron, Nathan, Lauren Kolodny and Sam Ben Nun; his brother Bently G. Kolodny of Ny.
Services at Temple Beth David, 7 Clapboardtree Street, Westwood on Friday, October 21 at 1:00 pm. SNYDERMAN, Paul,age 97, Of Sharon formerly of Delray Beach, FL and Randolph on Oct 14, 2011. Beloved husband of the late Lillian (Kaplan) Snyderman. Devoted father of Fredric Snyderman and his wife Gail of Sharon, Laurence R. Snyderman and his wife Carol of Marblehead, Stephen Snyderman of San Diego CA, Alan Snyderman of San Diego, CA. Edward K Snyderman and his wife Susan of Bridgewater, Cheryl J. Tobias and her husband Rick of Canton. and the late Harold C. Snyderman. Loving brother of the late Ruth Richardson and Harold Snyderman. Dear grandfather of 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Paul also leaves many dear friends and caregivers at the Epoch Senior Center where he lived the past nine years. He was the “Mayor” of the community. He was so sharp for his 97 years that they elected him to serve as President of the Resident’s Council. Everyone came to Paul to talk, to listen to music, to learn, and to reminisce. He was the floor “leader”. The past several years while living there, he had learned so much, teaching himself to read and speak Hebrew, learning and chanting the prayers, reading his religious books. He passed his time, also, on the computer playing his Free Cell game that that approached almost 4000 wins, and going on line to U-tube and other old-time sites. He also composed a series of life’s memories that we will put together in a book to cherish always. Paul was always active and often enjoyed the many social activities at the home making the others join in, too. He will be dearly missed by all. GOLDENBERG, Doris Pearlman We sadly mourn the passing of Doris Pearlman Goldenberg on Monday, October 10, 2011. Passion characterized her life and kept her alive through her remarkable three and a half year fight against pancreatic cancer. She was a great lover of the arts, both in life and profession. She worked as part of the team creating Bear Rocks Resort in western Pennsylvania, and as interior designer for Parke Interiors in Pittsburgh. Her beauty and dynamic presence brought her many admirers in Palm Beach, Boston and Pittsburgh. But it was her integity, devotion and outspokenness that brought true respect and loyal friends. Above everything, she loved her family – her devoted husband Marvin Goldenberg, two daughters, Heidi Pearlman-Swartz and Jill Pearlman and her brother Lester Medvene. She was a loving wife to Robert C. Pearlman, who died in 1994. She is also survived by four grandchildren Rachel, Lisa, Eve and Jason and six of Marvin’s grandchildren. Gertrude Naomi (Shore) Pearlman, 66, passed away surrounded by her family at her home in Framingham, MA. Trudy, as she is known to her family and friends, had endured a long battle with cancer for more than fifteen years.
Trudy graduated from Boston University in 1967 with a degree in teaching and was an educator for most of her life. She first started working with young children in the Newton, MA public school system and then in the early 1970s, after losing 70 lbs. on their program, became a lecturer/trainer for Weight Watchers. Sharing her own inspiring story while listening to others in need, Trudy worked her way up to become the regional manager, motivating thousands of Weight Watchers members to achieve their personal goals.
Trudy is survived by her husband of 46 years, Edward Neil Pearlman; her children, Andrea Sharon Pearlman Lindsey and Louis Ira Pearlman; her niece, Rebecca Ruth Stark and her grandchildren, Tyler Reed and Kendall Alyse Lindsey. She will be remembered with love by the Drevitch and Pearlman families, as well as a legion of friends from her neighborhood and Weight Watchers, whom she regarded as family.
She had been a longtime and active member of Temple Beth Sholom at 50 Pamela Road in Framingham, MA. Funeral services will be held there on Tuesday, October 4th, 2011 at 11 am.

Isidore Pine, age 92, of Taunton, formerly of Raynham, died on September 5, 2011. He was born in Brooklyn, NY and was a 40 year resident of Raynham before moving to Taunton 15 years ago. He was an active member of Raynham Lions Club, V.F.W and Blinded Veterans. He was the husband of the late Elsie Jacobson. He leaves his daughter, Ellen Hurteau; his grandchildren, Erica Hurteau and her husband David Porter; great grandchildren, Joplin and Tress; Brother, Herman Pine. He was the brother of the late George Pine. Graveside services will be held at the Mt. Nebo Cemetery, Glebe St. Taunton on Thursday, September 8 at 11 am. Marty was a member of the Eastern Massachusetts Association of Interscholastic Football Officials since 1972, Member and Past President of the Taunton Jaycees, Member of the Planning Board of Raynham, School building and Site committee in Raynham, and the Taunton Zoning Board of Appeals. He volunteered for SRPEDD and SCORE. In 2003 he received the Citizen of the Year Award from the Town of Raynham. He believed that service to humanity is the best work of life.
